There'll be many opportunities to play your favourite sports around the world. In "third World "countries particularly, it's worth asking if you can join in. Here I am in Pakistan heading for the pitch surrounded by happy smiling newly made friends who picked me up on the train and insisted I got off with them and put me up for a few days during their inter village cricket festival.
I always take a telescopic fishing rod and a pair of binos.If you play a musical instrument - why not take it with you, or if it's too big or valuable, buy one out there or learn a local one. There are so many local bands in the "Third World" you could join in and amaze your friends on your return!
